Welcome to Sahyadri Kannada Sangha! We, Seattle Kannadigas who have made Seattle a home away from home, are very privileged to be where we are socially, financially and professionally. We reached out for the best in whatever we aspired to be and this quest could not have been a possibility let alone the reality it is now, if it was not for the education we got. Back home in India, with a majority young population, many like us or like our kids cannot afford education and just don’t have a shot at a bright future they can otherwise have. And we have the opportunity to help make a difference in their lives. Part of what makes us tick is this thought and is the reason for our existence.

Non-Profit Journey so far

Sahyadri Kannada Sanhga’s non-profit work is focused in the areas of Education of the the underprivileged and support of Kannada culture in the state of Karnataka or here in the USA. Thank you for being part our non-profit journey and supporting our causes in the past. Most notably, in the last few years, through your membership purchases, active contributions, volunteering and your employer you have supported,

1. The Flags ofHonour Foundation (FOH)

FoH is a non-profit organization dedicated to foster the spirit of patriotism and service to tpledge-imghe Nation.

The Foundation’s philosophy is shaped by the principle of “Serving Our Nation”. We believe that our Nation’s Armed Forces are the symbol of selfless National service and advocate the very same values in citizens.

Since its formation in 2009, the Flags of Honour Foundation has been steadfast in supporting and advocating the causes of the Armed Forces, the men and women who serve and the veterans who have made tremendous sacrifices for the Nation. We endeavor to be a bridge for the civil society to engage with, recognize and support the Armed Forces and inspire the younger generation through stories of valor and sacrifice of the men and women in uniform.

The Flags of Honour Foundation ensures that the families of the martyrs do not endure alone, and attempts to be the beacon of hope and inspiration for all to join hands in saluting the heroes through their families. We believe that the greatest measure of respect that we can bestow upon the martyrs is by supporting their families and by understanding their needs.

As a platform that helps citizens engage and participate in National service initiatives by volunteering, the Flags of Honour Foundations’ programmes involve collective participation to strengthen the Nation. From extending volunteer support during times of need, granting monetary and social aid for families of Martyrs and disabled soldiers to advocating for Armed Forces voting rights and policy reforms, the Flags of Honour Foundation continues to work towards its objectives of service to the Nation.

ILIDDuring the last few years we were in search of an organization where we can get more closely involved and make a deeper impact in our mission to support education of the underprivileged. Last year, we were fortunate when we came across the opportunity to support ILID PROJECT PUPIL and their mission to provide top class education to the weakest economic section in the Ekalavya school in Bangalore. This DD News report offers a good overview of their school and mission

This DD News report offers a good overview of their school and mission

With mounting operational costs in the city and ILID’s refusal to compromise on the quality of education they offer, the school had to face a serious financial crisis and had stopped taking admissions over the last 2 years. We are currently in the process of funding and restarting a new batch of students who will see the light of
education. We hope to support them in the future as well.

We were greatly inspired by Dr. G.K Jayaram’s dedication, rich experience, pragmatic approach and hands on leadership. Here is a message by Dr. Jayaram himself to you all!

We are very proud to be working with Dr. Jayaram and wish the entire team at ILID a great success with everything they do.
